The Leadership Team handle many school events and activities. We participate in community service projects, student activities and green initiatives amongst other things.
6th Grade Parent Orientation
Parents and guardians of the upcoming 6th grade Tigers of Ewa Makai came to the school to see where their children will be getting their education, about the programs, green initiatives, staff, and more!
6th Grade Orientation
6th graders from Ewa Elementary, Keoniula and Ewa Beach Elementary came to Ewa Makai to be informed of the expectations, rules, programs and classes so that they are prepared and informed about their new, upcoming school. The Leadership Team organized skits, games, videos, and performances to get the 6th graders ecstatic about transitioning to a new school.
Franciscan Vistas Ewa Visitation
Ewa Makai Students and the Leadership Team represented their school in a positive way by visiting a retirement home in order to bring smiles on the elders faces. Students sewed aprons, painted garden pots, and brought plants from Ewa Makai's green garden to give to the elders. Members of the Polynesian Music program and several members of the Leadership Team prepared a special Hula and Tahitian dance as well as an ukulele instrumental to entertain the audience.
Hokule'a Canoe Exploration
The Leadership Team went on a field trip to learn about the historic voyaging canoe called the Hokule'a, meaning Star of Gladness. Crew members of the canoe educated the students about life on the boat, navigating using the stars and the sky, marine life, importance of understanding the ocean, and more. They also had the special opportunity of opening the sails of the Hokule'a (seen in pictures below).
Aquaponics Workshop
Members of the Leadership Team contributed their time on December 16th, 2017 to assist with the Aquaponics workshop led by Ewa Makai's former Science teacher and Aquaponics advisor, Mr. Wong. In the workshop teachers and students learned how to create and maintain their own aquaponics system.
McFundraiser
Mcfundraiser is an event where the student government along with staff and faculty from Ewa makai go to a local Mcdonalds from 4 - 8 pm to raise funds for Ewa Makai.
Funds 4 Friends
During morning recess and lunch, the Leadership Team set up different booths for the purchasing of the Funds 4 Friends Fundraiser wristbands between October 2nd - 6th. Each student had the choice of buying a sports, dance, movies, or quiet games band for the price of five dollars and earn a free dress day on the day of the fundraiser. The funds went to the American Heart Association and Aloha United Way.
